I very much recommend this one!

NOTES: Fun fact: RENT's first staged reading was 1993, so 2013 is technically also a 20th anniversary. This was a semi-staged/semi-concert production. The audio is nice quality, although the sound design either from this performance or the production in general was awful. People tended to rave about Rory Taylor; he has a very good voice, but the standouts here by FAR are Nikki Davis-Jones (Maureen) and Ian Stroughair, who is one of a very few people ever to make Angel a genuine character insteadof a Magical Drag Queen. This is a very cool piece of bootleg.

MASTER’S NOTES: Stunning Friday night performance from the 20th Anniversary cast of RENT in the UK, recorded with Tascam DR-05. Make no mistake, this production is an absolute revelation, as many reviews have attested. The cast and the band sounded utterly incredible at this performance. Everyone on stage was having the time of their lives and the audience were lapping it up. Special mentions to Philippa Stefani (comfortably the best British Mimi I’ve seen) and Lucie Jones - both ladies were in great voice. Haunts&Hurts Master. This audio is also NOT allowed to be posted on video websites such as Youtube/Google Video etc.

NOTES: SRT is Summer Rep Theatre in Santa Rosa, but I couldn't find info on whether Actors' Project (the label on the file) is the professional or the community college version. Either way, this is a slightly odd selection of highlights. The sound quality is great, although the audience comes across much louder than the singers. Cast quality is variable, but there are some unusual and really interesting line readings (and one absolutely hilarious one), and the choral singing sounded fantastic.

NOTES: Non-replica production! Pretty good cast. Vocally, the standout for me is Chris as Angel. Joanne's parts were a sometimes a little out of range for Casey, but you can tell why they cast her anyway! The show's musical direction, though...the tempo was off for a few songs, and, um, I'm not sure that's the instrument you meant to be playing there? The audio's sound quality is fantastic.

MASTER’S NOTES:  Australia Day performance with a speech the show by Jarrod Draper honoring the Aboriginal people, and one following the show by Callum Francis honoring Jonathan Larson and the 25th Anniversary of Rent on Broadway. Absolutely phenomenal cast and production with a couple of alterations to musical arrangements and added lines of dialogue (including the addition of they/them pronouns for Angel, and a substitute for mooing in ‘Over the Moon’ due to the pandemic). Act 2 started with what I can only call a jam session of ‘Seasons of Love’. The cast slowly came together with either an instrument, their voices, or to dance which lasted about five minutes before the second act officially started and the energy in the room was pure magic. Truly a special performance of a fantastic production, with an enthusiastic audience.

The cast's energy could power your town's electrical grid for a week. One of, possibly the best Out Tonight I've heard. Probably my new favorite RENT boot.
